The Francophone Immigration Network of Newfoundland and Labrador (Réseau immigration francophone de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador - RIF-TNL) aims to increase the reception, integration and retention capacity of the province's Francophone communities by mobilizing various stakeholders and strengthening collaboration and strategic planning at the community, regional and national levels.
RIF-TNL was created by the FFTNL in 2007 to meet the needs of Francophone newcomers to Newfoundland and Labrador. Its main objective is the successful integration of French-speaking newcomers who choose to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador and a better social and cultural connection with the host community. The RIF plays a leading role in the development of third-party Francophone reception and settlement services that directly address the needs of French-speaking immigrants and their families.
■ Ensure consultation and promote partnerships with stakeholders from various sectors (community, private, parapublic, governments and municipalities);
■ Identifies the needs, gaps and assets of the community and newcomers at different stages of the immigration continuum;
■ Develops the Action Plan on Francophone Immigration that responds to the needs, gaps and assets identified and guides the national priorities for Francophone immigration;
■ Raise awareness, mobilize and support communities and partners in implementing the Action Plan on Francophone Immigration;
■ Plays a leading role in developing Francophone reception and settlement services that directly address the needs of French-speaking immigrants and their families.
In addition, in collaboration with numerous partners, the RIF-TNL coordinates various awareness-raising initiatives, including the Semaine nationale de l'immigration francophone and employer liaison, awareness and mobilization tours for the international recruitment of French-speaking immigrants.
